birthday post =D

i reverted back to having the joy of a six-year-old today when i woke up and remembered it was my birthday, despite it being my twenty-second, and (even though it is technically over here in the uk, it is still going in the us of a, which totally counts as still being my birthday, which totally excuses me from posting this on christmas day even though i would never do such a horrid thing in real life...)

unfortunately, there was still snow everywhere from about a week ago, which has since turned into the most lethal ice you can imagine and 'they' decided not to do anything about it, meaning i stayed inside the whole day, haha. i did have visitors, however, but since the sun sets at around 4, it was a little short-lived.

so today i wore:

dress: new york & company
tights: modcloth
shoes: plato's closet, i have no idea where originally
earrings: self-made
rings: one etsy, one self-made during the day

and i feel now is also the time to admit my possibly unnatural obsession with edie sedgwick and the 60s in general. admit but not expand upon. i shall save that for another day ;p

when i got downstairs i found waiting for me a small pile of presents and my friend mairead [muh - rade] and we swiftly put some indian snack bites in the oven while i opened everything up.

later my brother showed up (he moved to london over the summer), and my family opened our christmas gifts too because we are leaving early tomorrow morning to go visit extended family for a couple days and by the end of the day i looked like this, wearing a sweater from topshop, suitably edie ;) :

and here is a closeup of the ring i made (from mere rick-rack!) after being given a "vintage accessories" book from my mum =)

all in all, a fabulous day

merry christmas for tomorrow!

whew! i flew home the other day (i don't even remember when, just that it is in the past haha)
buttttt before i left, nicole and i went on an adventure into the wilderness for a ~photo shoot~ baha

was kind of scary since we hopped a fence and some guy drove past us -twice!- staring the whole time and then i found the cows who were the ones supposed to be kept in by the fence... but it was a lot of fun =)

Night of the undead

So, it's dead week.  And instead of being dead, I decided it was high time to do some blogposting.  Sure, sure, I could have been writing up my studyguide and so on but, this is, as you all well know, infinitely more interesting.

So, uh, here we go.  CLOSET TIME!

This is really quite appropriate for the cold outside--
purple UO sweater of love.  (Of love is mine.)
plum Gap v-neck t-Shirt
blue Express skinny jeans
purple Gap Clearance Center boots
tortoise not designer glasses (:

Outfit one:
red H&M knit hat
yellow F21 sunglasses
blue Target necklace
green Gap shirt
floral F21 shorts
black Walmart leggings
purple F21 knee socks
red Old Navy flats

Outfit two:
sable Gap sweater
floral F21 dress
black Walmart tights
gray Target over the knee socks
light tan F21 boots

Yeah, my camera is kind of crap.  I can't wait to get together with Lydia so we can take some high class photos together!  ie I wanna play with her camera.  And I miss her like whoa.  More so the latter.  But still the former.

And yeah!  I'll hopefully post again soon.  And won't be so ghostlike in nature.  In regards to posts.

I'm also obsessed with this song:

oh my god, shoes!

so, i was going do some fancy shmancy art post (inspired by Rebecca's post here) where i created some masterpiece of my own brilliant ingenuity.
instead i ended up just drawing shoes. but not just any shoes. oh no! modcloth shoes =)

so here we have (shoes left to right, top to bottom):
academia flats
break in the clouds flats
greatest love of all wedges
last dance with mary janes
foxtrot flats in ragtime
sundae shoes in caramel

and (socks/tights left to right, top to bottom):
hearthside tights
rose toes socks in sky
rainbow tights

so basically, just a few of my favourite modcloth shoes and hosiery ;)

the most outrageous dress i own

outrageous dress + rainy yucky day + growing obsession with yellow =

i rarely wear this dress, even though it makes me so happy, because it's so ridiculous and noticeable that if i wore it once a week like i want to, people would think i was a freak. also, people appreciate it more when they don't see it all the time. right? right?!

oh and also it has fantastic pockets

since i couldn't really wear any jewelery with this dress, i made a little hair clip thing instead, from an earring i found in a thrift store back home

dress: vintage (could it be anything else?)
cardigan: ebay
leggings: new look
socks: target
boots: peddler's mall
'hairclip': thrifted

and just for fun because it's amazingly adorable:

layers layers

so i was going to wait until nicole had more photos to put up, but i loved today's outfit too much to let it fly by unnoticed ;)  basically i started the day by looking out of the window and seeing the miserable cold rain and decided to brighten it up with some contrasting colours and warm it up with multiple layers and knitted-ness :)

coat: h&m
hat: h&m
dress: british thrift store
tights: probably somewhere like asda
grey knee-high socks: target
shoes: peddlar's mall
vest: plato's closet
sweater: forever21 via my housemate
belt: from another skirt from new look
necklace: vintage fair in london

and look at this book i found and decided to hang my necklace from! totally perfect for the blog about magic rings that take you between worlds ;)

ericailcane drawings

i've loved ericailcane's drawings ever since i saw them in the street sketchbook i got a few birthdays ago. his name means "eric the dog" and his drawings have a type of oldfashionedness to them that i adore. all his little creatures have their own little personalities and it is so easy to make up stories to go with them. =)

warm and cosy

it was cold today so i had to wear my biggest man sweater to make up for it, but to keep it girly, i splashed on my newly-purchased red nail polish, and dressed it up with a simple dress, some funky jewellery, dotty tights and two pairs of socks, and some wedgey boots =) mmmmm cosy

big man sweater: salvation army
dress: british heart foundation
footless tights: target
two pairs of socks: target
boots: some store in england ages ago
necklace: vintage fair in london
ring: etsy via ragtrader
nail polish: ny company

oh also i found the best spot to take photos in the library - ok so there are no cool books in the background but the curtains are kind fun, and there's actually enough room between them and the bookshelf where i sit my camera - and it's the last aisle so noone ever walks past and gives me strange looks!

magic rings

"The stuff in the yellow rings had the power of drawing you into the wood; it was stuff that wanted to get back to its own place, the in-between place. But the stuff in the green rings is stuff that is trying to get out of its own place; so that a green ring would take you out of the wood into a world." -The Magician's Nephew, 'The Wood between the Worlds'.
